Hellblades Chapter One - Early the next Morning

I'm back, just in time for the end of 2023. Here's hoping 2024 will be full of stories.

Thanks and Enjoy

Rain.

The Baron's seneschal came into the common room of The Poor Twig, he had a pair of soldiers with him. He rang his bell

"The group known as The Hellblades are to present themselves to the Baron at noon today!" He proclaimed at the top of his leathery lungs. There was a cacophony of groans and cries of pain from people's heads hurting.

Marleith, who had a staggering capacity for alcohol, sat up. Bleary-eyed but alert

"What was that?" Marleith asked. The seneschal picked his way over.

"Are you part of The Hellblades?" he asked, more quietly. Marleith nodded and looked at the mess on the table, she found the last bottle still had some wine in it and upended it to finish it off.

"Yeah." Marleith said the gave out a cute little belch

"Can you rouse your companions and present yourselves to the Baron? Or shall I call the next group on the list?" the seneschal asked

"We'll be there." Marleith assured him. He cast a look of doubt on her, but took his men and left.

Marleith dragged herself up from the chair and pushed Rutger out of his onto the floor

"What the hell?" Rutger asked looking up at the blurred image of Marleith

"We're summoned to the Baron at noon, we have four hours to get this lot awake, fed and cleaned up." Marleith said

"Ohhh. Crap." Rutger said. He grabbed Sval's hand and dragged himself up the enormous man. Marleith turned to Asaia. Asaia was sleeping with her head tossed back and mouth open, snoring slightly. Marleith gently took her head in her hands and kissed Asaia on the mouth.

"Mmmh? The fuck?" Asaia said pulling back from Marleith who grinned at her

"I love kissing you." Marleith said unrepentantly. Asaia coughed and frowned

"I prefer men." Asaia growled and Marleith sighed dramatically

"And I wish it wasn't so." Marleith said with a lopsided leer. Asaia found her humor again and giggled, something the mage rarely did.
